Why this exists

Three things that make smart scales collect dust.

Real complaints we kept hearing — and what the scale actually changes about them.

The phone shouldn't be in the recipe.

You're already using MyFitnessPal or Lose It! — and someone else wants you to install a second app to weigh a banana.

"You're just adding another app to do what your first app is already doing. Seems redundant for no reason." — r/loseit

Hands covered in flour, not free to scroll.

Cooking mid-recipe means greasy, sticky, occupied hands. Picking up the phone is the friction that breaks the habit.

"Both hands in dough — there's no way I'm picking up the phone to log a hundred grams of flour."

Numbers you can't quite trust.

If the scale can't tell you how far off it runs, every macro count is built on guesswork. We publish the full tolerance up front.

"Tried buying a few different ones but the readings have been wrong. Wondering what everyone else uses that is reliable." — r/naturalbodybuilding

How the scale works

Three steps. Zero taps. One sentence.

A different mechanism — not a different spec sheet. Same way you'd ask another person in the kitchen.

Say "Hello, Vita"

Wake word works up to 1–2 meters away. Hands stay on the knife, the spoon, the dough.

Name the food

500 foods are built in — apple, chicken, oats, pasta — recognized offline, no internet required.

See the macros

Calories, protein, fat, carbs land on the color screen in under a second. The app is optional, not required.

The Fitdays+ app pairs over Bluetooth if you want trend tracking and a 1.2M+ food database. If you don't — The scale still works.

Different mechanism, not a head-to-head

How this scale compares to the "tap-and-scroll" smart scale.

We don't benchmark against other brands here — we don't have lab head-to-head data. What we can do is show how a voice-first mechanism differs from the typical app-first smart scale.

For your kitchen

Where this scale earns its place on the counter.

Three scenes we kept hearing about. Voice first, macros on the screen, app when you want it.

Meal prep containers with grilled chicken breast, broccoli and brown rice next to a black kitchen scale on a counter
Meal prep

Sunday portioning

Lift five lids. Say five foods. Five screens of macros. One Sunday. The scale does the math while you do the cooking.

Recipe in grams, oz and ml

Recipes don't pick one unit. Switch between g, ml-water, ml-milk, oz, and lb:oz just by saying the unit — no menu diving.

Daily cooking

For cooks who don't want a screen in the way

Big color numbers, voice that reads the food back, and a damp-cloth wipe-down afterward. Low friction for everyday use.

Honest notes before you buy.

Things we won't pretend about. The "delivered" list above is real. The list below is also real — these are the gaps where we either haven't tested yet or where we deliberately don't make the claim.

DeliveredWhat we ship, working as described

  • 500-food offline library covers common ingredients and prepared foods. Full food list available in the spec sheet.
  • Manufacturer-published tolerance figures at the four listed test points.
  • USB-C charging from any standard phone charger — no proprietary cable.

Awaiting testWhat we won't quote until we've measured it

  • Single-charge runtime in days — measured during pilot testing, not yet on the marketing page.
  • Voice recognition accuracy in noisy kitchens — quiet kitchens read at 1–2 m; loud ranges still being tuned.
  • Battery lifespan over years of daily use — spec sheet only quotes the 300 mAh cell, not a multi-year projection.

Not claimedWhat we deliberately do not promise

  • This is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or measure anything clinical.
  • We do not integrate with Apple Health, Google Fit, MyFitnessPal, or any third-party fitness app. The Fitdays+ app is the only pairing.
  • We do not advertise "23 nutrients" or any nutrient count above the four macros the offline library supports. If you need micronutrient tracking, this is not the right tool.
  • This scale is not a weight-loss product. It is a logging tool. If tracking food makes your relationship with eating harder, please stop using it and talk to a clinician. NEDA Helpline: 1-800-931-2237.
FCC Statement: This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Questions, answered honestly

The things people actually ask before buying.

Pulled from real Google searches, Reddit threads, and Amazon reviews about smart food scales.

Is this for weight loss?

No. This scale is a logging tool, not a weight-loss product. It won't tell you what to eat or how much. If tracking your food makes your relationship with eating harder, that's a signal to stop — not to track harder.

If you're struggling with food or body image, the National Eating Disorders Association Helpline is 1-800-931-2237 (US).

How accurate is Vita, really?

Most smart scales won't tell you how far off they can run. We will: ±4 g at 1 kg, ±7 g at 3 kg, ±12 g at full 5 kg capacity, ±10 g off-center at 2 kg. These numbers come straight from the manufacturer's published spec sheet.

If you want to verify, weigh the same item on any 1 g / 0.1 oz scale you already trust. The numbers should match within those tolerances on a flat, level surface.

How does a voice food scale actually work?

You say the wake phrase "Hello, Vita" (1–2 meters from the scale). The scale listens for the name of a food it knows — apple, chicken, oats, pasta, and so on, up to 500 entries stored locally. It shows the food name on the screen. You place the food on the platform; the screen updates weight plus calories, protein, fat, carbs, and sodium.

No internet connection is required for those 500 foods. The Fitdays+ app pairs over Bluetooth only if you want trend tracking.

Do I need the Fitdays+ app to use the scale?

No. The scale's core voice-and-screen experience works fully offline with the built-in 500-food library. The Fitdays+ app is optional and adds trend tracking plus a 1.2M+ database search if you want it.

What's the battery life?

We won't quote a days-of-use number until our pilot run completes — the spec sheet only lists the 300 mAh rechargeable lithium cell. We can tell you it charges over USB-C from any phone charger, and many users report weeks of normal use per charge. We'll publish a measured number when we have one.

Is the scale waterproof?

No. The platform is tempered glass and can be wiped with a damp cloth, but the scale should not be submerged in water. Keep liquids away from the base and USB-C port.

Does it work with Apple Health, Google Fit, or MyFitnessPal?

No. The scale pairs with the Fitdays+ app via Bluetooth. It does not currently sync with Apple Health, Google Fit, MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, Cronometer, or any other third-party health platform. If integration with those is essential for your routine, this scale isn't the right fit.

How is this scale different from Etekcity or other smart scales?

Different mechanism, not a benchmark. We haven't run a controlled head-to-head lab test against any other brand, so we won't claim "more accurate than X" without data to back it up.

What we can describe: The scale's trigger is voice, with the food name and macros showing on the scale's own screen first. Most smart scales we've seen put the trigger on the phone screen first, then sync the result back. If that distinction matters to you, This scale is built for it. If you want a brand-versus-brand shootout, we don't have that data yet.

Why does this scale cost $49.99 when basic scales are $12?

A $12 kitchen scale measures weight. It also recognizes the food by voice, stores a 500-entry library on the device, and displays macros on a color screen. Those are real hardware and engineering costs. See the breakdown above ("Where the upgrade goes") for how the price is split.

When does the scale ship? What's the return policy?

The scale is in stock and ships from our US warehouse with free US shipping. Returns are accepted within a 90-day window from delivery for unused items in original packaging; defective or damaged units are replaced free.
